The flowing liquid rotates a vaned rotor inside the pipe. A magnetic pickup coil senses the rotor's angular velocity and converts it into a pulsating electrical signal.
The signal frequency is directly proportional to the flow rate.
The transmitter converts this into a linear 4–20 mA output for process control.
Total flow is obtained by summing the pulse signals.
